In Honor of Yud Shvat

In honor of Yud Shvat I though I would post this.
Enjoy.

Adapted from Likkutei Sichos,
Vol. XVIII, Parshas Chukas-Balak
and Yud-Beis Tammuz;
and the Sichos of Shabbos Parshas Beshallach, 5751

A Time for Focus

Yud Shvat (the Tenth of Shvat) is the Previous Rebbe's yahrzeit, the anniversary of his passing. On the day of a tzaddik's passing, "all his effort... for which he toiled throughout his life... becomes revealed and radiates downward... at the time of his passing."[1] Accordingly, Yud Shvat is an appropriate day to focus on the message of the Previous Rebbe's life, for every year, these same spiritual qualities are revealed on this anniversary.[2]
This revelation affects all of "his children, the work of his hands," those who "will walk in his paths for eternity."[3] This is particularly true in regard to the yahrzeit of a nasi, a leader of the Jewish people. For a nasi is connected to every member of his generation;[4] as Rashi states,[5] "The nasi is the entire people."

The divine service of every man, but particularly that of a tzaddik and nasi, is multifaceted. Nevertheless, in considering the Previous Rebbe's divine service as a whole, there is one quality that stands out distinctly, and which enhances the nature of all his other contributions, namely, his unbounded mesirus nefesh ("self sacrifice").

The Previous Rebbe's mesirus nefesh was not limited to a particular situation or mode of expression. Despite the radically differing settings in which he lived and the varied nature of the obstacles with which he was confronted, he showed an unceasing commitment to the well-being of his fellow Jews, and to their connection with their Torah heritage.

Challenging the Iron Fist

His resolution and unbounded concern may be seen in his responses to three challenges that marked the three decades during which he served as leader of the Chabad chassidic movement. The Previous Rebbe assumed the mantle of leadership in 5680 (1920). At that time, the majority of the Chabad community - and the largest Jewish population worldwide - was located in the Soviet Union, exposed to the full brunt of the Communist effort to stamp out religious practice.
For the Previous Rebbe, every day presented a life-and-death struggle to maintain the observance of Torah throughout the country. He dispatched rabbis and shochtim to communities throughout the land, built mikvaos, and most important - and most fiercely opposed by the Communist regime - he established an extensive network of underground chadarim and yeshivos to educate Jewish youth. (This network continued to operate for decades, until the Glasnost allowed these schools to emerge into the light of day.)

The Previous Rebbe was arrested several times for "counter-revolutionary" activities. At one point, he was sentenced to death; only through international intervention and a series of miracles was the sentence averted.[6] The most difficult part of the Rebbe's situation, however, was the threat to his followers who joined him in risking their lives for these goals. Whenever one of his followers was exiled to Siberia for teaching young children, the Previous Rebbe had to shoulder the responsibility of sending a replacement with the full knowledge of the danger awaiting him.

In the Twilight Before the Night

The Rebbe Rayatz was forced to leave Russia in 5688 (1928). For the next few years, he established his base in Riga. Although he visited several Jewish communities throughout the world during this time, his energies were still primarily focused on Russia and the operation of the chassidic movement there.
In the summer of 5693 (1933), he settled in Poland. There, he was confronted by challenges of a different nature. Although there were no political obstacles to the spread of Jewish education or practice, the lack of resources presented difficulties which were compounded by the fact that the leaders of the local Jewish community did not understand his approach.

The Previous Rebbe did not allow these impediments to stand in the way of his efforts. With relentless energy, he established a chain of yeshivos and chadarim that enabled thousands of youth to devote themselves to the study of Torah. These activities continued until they were halted by the Nazi invasion. Together with thousands of other Jews, the Previous Rebbe spent the High Holidays of 5700 (1939) in bomb shelters in Warsaw. Shortly thereafter, on the last passenger ship to leave, he set out for the United States.

"America is No Different"

Immediately upon his arrival, he announced that he had come not for his personal benefit, but to prove that "America is no different."[7] The spiritual vitality that had nurtured Jewish life in Eastern Europe could be transplanted to the American continent. Though its manner of expression might change, the traditional devotion to the Torah's teachings and the observance of the mitzvos would not.
Physically broken by the ravages of ill-health and Soviet interrogators, the Previous Rebbe could have retired to a more private life, leading his own small group of followers. Instead, he revolutionized American Judaism. Every single area of American Jewish life - day schools, kashrus, Jewish publishing, yeshivah study, and the beginnings of the baal teshuvah movement - was radically influenced by his activities.

His ability to practice mesirus nefesh in these three very different situations indicates that this quality was of his essence. Himself the epitome of mesirus nefesh, he was able to inspire others likewise.

Continually Advancing - and with Joy

The very name Yosef Yitzchak speaks volumes about the Rebbe Rayatz.
In Hebrew, Yosef means "increase". The Previous Rebbe's mesirus nefesh constantly impelled him to further commitment and increased activity. Moreover, the name Yosef was first given in the verse,[8] "May G-d add on (yosef) to me another son (ben acher)." Implicit in this verse is the ability of Yosef to transform a person who has hitherto been acher ("another" - estranged from his Jewish roots) into the closeness of ben ("a son"). This ability was exemplified by the Previous Rebbe, who inspired countless Jews to return to Jewish practice.

The name Yitzchak was first given in the verse,[9] "Whoever hears will laugh (yitzchak) with me." Joy should be radiated to the point that "whoever hears," even someone who does not consciously intend to hear, "will laugh with me."

In keeping with this verse, the Previous Rebbe possessed a unique ability to impart happiness to others. Even when he was physically broken, the atmosphere around him was never one of despair. Quite the contrary, he radiated joy.

Both these names share a connection to the Redemption. The name Yosef is associated with the verse,[10] "G-d will again (yosif) extend His hand... to take possession of the remnant of His people." The joy inspired by the name Yitzchak anticipates the overwhelming joy our people will experience at the Redemption, as it is written,[11] "Then will our mouths be filled with laughter." May this take place in the immediate future.

Um... Where'd I Go??

Good morning to all who are dropping by to see what I have to say.
I must warn you. It's not much. I just realized I seem to have been neglecting my blog. Its not intentional. I was just a little addicted to myspace. It takes up a lot of my time. But I've decided to lay off the hard stuff. Pull back, if I may. Go through a little bet of withdrawal. :)

Anyway: Here's an update on the friends getting married around me. Yea, its hard. But mostly. I've come to realize. I'm just worried. I hope it's all with good intentions and I pray it all works out for the good.

and now for a little Torah to spice up your morning with a word from our sages:
B"H

One World
---------

People might tell you, "When you come to work, leave your spirituality at home. Don't bother us with your peculiar lifestyle, your ethics, search for meaning... That's all nice, but this is business. This is the real world."

There is only one real world, and it belongs to one real G-d.

A friend’s engagement: Jealousy or happiness?

I wrote this last wee but got sick and havnt been to work.
Maybe I should go over it before I post it. Maybe I shouldnt. It's more raw this way.

A marriage of connivance;

Shit or get off the pot. Right…?

What's this bullsh*t about all the people I know getting engaged, just because..? Doesn't anyone believe in eternal bliss or love? What happened to my generation?

My friend we'll just call him "Joe Shmoe" was trying to understand why I never "messed around" with him. Now that he's engaged this comes up, go figure…
So I asked him, --(In response to the sudden inquiry) why are you marring this girl, if you're still trying to get in my pants? His answer: "Why not? She's been dating me for 2yrs. I owe it to her. Plus she'll be a good mom." Mean while she has no idea she's marring a drug addict who in his words has "temptation issues" when it comes to girls.
--the only issue he has is that some say no.

And then there's "Jack Shmoe" the recovering heroin /crack addict who is marring the cookie cutter Bais Yaakov girl whom thinks her fiancé is in rehab for pot. Yes, I said it pot.
--Ps. He still smokes pot. But is now, sober from the hard stuff* for all of 7 months. (Which she has no knowledge about) again… "She's willing to marry me. Why wouldn't I marry her?"

Then: Last night:
I went to a La'chaim for a friend of mine. Let's call her "L".
A few months ago, we stopped hanging out cause I couldn't keep up with her. Her life was spiraling down hill. Then about 2 months ago she was tripping out cause she was turning 25. Her "significant other" broke up with her telling her she was pathetic. What did she do? She had a conversation with g-d; asking for help, to make this g-d awful person want her back.
She cleaned up. Was sent on a shidduch and got engaged. All in less than 2 months.
I was expecting a whole trip. Well she came in an hour late. (To be expected) but what I didn't expect was her to come in with her ex. WHO DOES THAT?! On top of it, she wasn't all about the engagement. In fact all she said to me all night was. Why aren't you talking to "E". Not wow. Can you believe it or I'm so happy? or Imertz Ha'shem by you. Nothing but can you please go talk to him. Make piece. All I wanted to do was yell at her. He treated you like sh*t for 2 years!!!!! But I can't. It was her night. So I let it be.
Then just before I finally had enough and left. She looks at me. Gives me a hug and says "Honey: you just have to give up on your self. Let it all go. Otherwise. You'll never be happy. The only reason I'm happy. Is cause I gave up on myself."
I left. I went home. And I cried. For both of us.

Now let me get one thing straight. I'm not taking away from anyone's happiness here. (and honestly all my friends aren’t drug addicts. I promise!!) I am however jealous in a sick and twisted "…why them?" level. Then I come back down planet earth and realize. None of them are happy. Not in love. They are all just settling. In a very unhealthy way might I add, but its so hard to watch.

Slashers Father Blames Video Games.

Go figure.

Sacrifice the Neo-Nazi shasher!!

Okay, sick. Right?
Yeah, we live in America and we're always looking to point a finger. We're the nation with the strangest warning labels to avoid dumb lawsuits.
Well it looks like even the psycho slashers are also looking for someone else to blame. The father of the MOSCOW CHABAD HOUSE SHASHER said.
""And I quote.""

According to officials the main reason of the rampage was believed to be national and religious enmity.

Later some other motives of the crime came on the surface. As father of Alexander Koptzev said his son used to play Postal (a computer game in which a postman goes mad, picks a knife and leaves to kill everybody he meets on the London streets). He played the game for quit a long time - several hours – when his friends called him out. Then Alexander went for a walk.

Yep. Daddy blames video games.

Sick sick world.

Sacrificial beasts strike back in Turkey
Tue Jan 10, 2006 5:33 PM GMT
Souce Reuters

ISTANBUL (Reuters) - The Muslim faithful are supposed to sacrifice sheep or other livestock for the Eid al-Adha festival, but in Turkey more than 1,600 people cut themselves and two died of heart attacks on Tuesday.

Turkey's streets annually run with blood as sheep and cattle have their throats cut on pavements and waste ground to commemorate Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son for God. The scenes are decried by the secular media which every year calls for an end to the public slaughter.

Three people suffered heart attacks and two of them died while carrying out sacrifices, state-run Anatolian news agency said, and 1,664 were hospitalised nationwide, mostly from cuts suffered while trying to hold down struggling beasts.

Television showed a number of bulls escaping the knife and running down the streets. One butted open the door of a corner shop and took refuge inside. Angry bulls in at least two places attacked their would-be killers and put them in hospital.

But one man in the western province of Bolu solved the problem of how to catch an escaped bull by shooting it in the legs with a shot-gun and then cutting its throat.

A portion of the meat from the dead animals is distributed to the poor.

Never Distant
-------------

(The Rebbe said this to person involved in Jewish outreach:)

"You say you are 'bringing close those who are distant.' What gives you the right to call them distant and pretend you are close? You must approach each one as though you were an emissary sent by the King of kings of kings to talk with the prince, his only son!"

Tina Fay+ Ali G. = Disaster

Ali G as Vic Thrill.
My life is none of your business.

Who remembers Vic Thrill + Time Square and the Millennium.

My friend and I were talking about how this is the fist official concert in Time Square for new years eve. And he was saying a friend of his who was a chossid Turned rock star turned chossid again. (Vic Thrill of Curly Oxide/ now going by the name Chaim) was supposed to play a gig for the millennium in Time Square. But then, decided not to due to the fact that it was shabbos.
He was suddenly questioning life all over again. Shortly after the choice not to play his mother set conned him in to a shidduch. And well he’s currently living happily ever after as a Chossid.
Now is where it gets interesting. Some Movie producer heard/ knows the story of this Chossid who became a rock star only to drop it all for the Quiet life of being a chossid. Apparently this isn’t the version of a story that typical or heard all the time. So here came this producer offering him just under a million for the rights of his life story. and what do you know.. this adel chossid declined saying he doesn’t want to bring back the past and he wants to move forward in life. Yes, he declined. He didn’t want the whole thing to come alive all over again. So instead, (now tell me if you know exactly how this gets less press…) (Sacha Baron Cohen)aka Ali G. is set to play him in some kind of movie version of the story that Tina Fey is writing.
Go figure. Now, this poor little man is tripping out because his life is in an uproar about the fact that his whole story is coming out. And he wants nothing more than to move on. He’s a chossid. What can ya say? .

Now, without the official rights… (not sure how that works)

Tina Fey has made a deal with Paramount to writer Curly Oxide and Vic Thrill, from producers Lorne Michaels and John Goldwyn. Fey will write the comedy about the true story of a Hasidic Jew and a grizzled rock musician who form a band, reports Variety.

Curly Oxide is the stage name of the young Hasidic Jew who wandered into a Brooklyn bar where Vic Thrill drunkenly played his raucous music. Thrill struck up a conversation and a mutual interest in music led Thrill to invite his new friend to visit his nearby recording studio. The duo began writing and performing music together, mingling their cultures in the playful lyrics.

It is unclear whether Fey will write a role for herself. She will continue to serve as head writer for Saturday Night Live as well as the show's Weekend Update co-anchor when the sketch comedy show returns this fall.

Also, did anyone know Tina Fey was the head Writer at SNL??

music videos here
Click on the "all episodes in order of broadcast" link, pick 2004 and then pick the program from 6/25 entitled "My Experimental Phase". It's a really great story about how Vic Thrill discovered Curly Oxide, a Hasidic Jew who wanted to be a rock star. The first 5-10 minutes of the show is actually about a woman who thought she was gay, but the Curly story starts right after that.

So much buzz I cant follow any of it. all I know throu mutual freinds... Hes not a happy camper.

If it quacks like a b*tch

Okay so, daily trip:

Lately I have this issue. (okay, I always had this issues)
Girls seem to have an aversion to me. I don’t know why. They are usually pleasant. But you just know they don’t really want to look up with that fake, “Oh hey, how you doing? How have things been?” any more than I do.

Its not that I have issues with them, or who they are. *that’s not even the issue* I have a problem with people who don’t like me. That when I’d rather talking to a wall than pretending to be nice.
So I was talking to one of the few chicks I can communicate with. (Maybe its cause she thinks like a guy) and she shared an interesting thought.

There are usually 2 reasons why girls don’t like girls.
A. You’re a slut. B. You’re a bitch.

Well boys and girls, I’m defiantly not a slut!
so, can I opt for C.
C. It’s because they feel threatened and suspicious for absolutely no reason?

Jewish Geography

Alright, we're all familiar with a little game called Jewish geography. You know Chani. I know Esti. Who went to school with Shira. Who's is Chanis Room mate. Who's Brother Married Shira. And is Surits Cousin. Right?

The world is small.

My friends and I have been talking about this a lot lately how small the Jewish world is. I met a whole new chevrah of friends this summer. But every single person I met. I later found that I knew them through someone else....

So now I've been checking out MySpace and seeing that it's even smaller.

Last night I was at a childhood- friends- Chanukah party. I bring another friend. He and I are talking. He mentions A. might be coming to his gig later at an after party in the city. My friend whom is throwing this party looks up and is like really.
She used to be my room mate?!?! I thought she was in India?! Yea... Everyone is connected.

Now, going to, many, schools in many, towns; Your world gets smaller. Once you've added Yeshiva in Israel; Boom! -You've just gone global.

I believe that if you are an Orthodox Jew then by the time you are 24. there is no way you cant play 6 degrees of separation. (Throw in the lubavitch factor and you just increased your chances of knowing everyone by double)

Now for a fun story:
Add one old British friend, Google, the Ohr Sameach Alumni page.. and Blogger.com
and you have a good story..

Starts Here::

Alright so I'm going to Europe for the first time with a friend for my birthday. I'm Super excited! I figure I have old friends from Israel who I would love to see all over the place.

How do I find them? GOOGLE how else?

Google takes me to the Ohr Sameach Alumni list I find my friend.

Surely its all from several years ago and none of the information has been updated. Ever (PS that a fact. I was working for them trying to contact people to update it. Till I realized.. Boys are hard to find. Isn't that why I'm single? But if do have old list of all the American boys! Separated by State and in Alphabetical order.)

:: But let's get back on track here. The information was posted in 2001. Not going to help me much. But it does have a link to a website.

Of course my friend (dear old JB) hasn't kept up with it in years. But seems to have paid for the name so the site is still up.... (I don't really get the internet.) So it's still active but hasn't been updated in years. We can't make this too east for old friends...now can we?

Alright, now let's laugh a little.

I see a link with info for the guy who helped design the site. With one of those cute little aim links.

This conversation has been edited* A lot* okay, completely*

I'm just getting the details out.

ME: Hey, I'm sure this is rude but do know JB or where I can find him...?

Designer: How do you know I know him?

ME: I saw your link on his page.

Designer: what page?

Me: his old out dated page.

Yada.. Yada.... (I did'nt know that page was still up) Yada.. Yada.. Anyway, its so funny between the two of us, we know the whole world. Here you are asking for him.

Designer: So who's asking?

ME: Me

Designer: Me who?

Designer: from where?

Designer: whats your Sur name? (I love the British)

Followed by Designer Interrogating this dear stranger: But I assume he is going to help me.

Me: so can you help me?

Designer: hold on he's on the phone.

ME: Well tell him if the name isn't ringing any bells, that I need someone to dominate my shesh besh board. It's been a while.

Designer: he asked for your number. :)

*And thus he knew I was on the other end of his buddy's AIM window.*
Within secconds: my phone rings and I'm talking to my good old friend JB .*

Both of them mention to me how funny it is that between the two of them, they know the whole world.

But wait, now I find out how true it is..

The world just got smaller.

This morning the Designer IM's me.

But from a failure screen name not the one I had talked to him on last night.

Things all began to click in my head. When I was on the phone talking to my friend I was thinking how funny it is that I know of another British guy who made ailya But I figure there have to be tons of British guys who make ailya...

Nope. This is the one :)

So they do seem to know the world. Rock on boys.

Yosef if your as cool as JB I would understand how you know the world.

Drugs and Shidduchim, Score!

I think I need to start doing real drugs.
Now when I say real I mean like the hard drugs, the ones people are always like, “yea I did drugs, but I never did that… ” Serious addiction, you know. “The good stuff.”

Lately it seems as if all the people I know whom I used to do “soft” drugs with are currently happy and in relationships. And all la de da.. oh, so excited and talking about planning a wedding even though they haven’t even gotten to the engaged part yet. When they do; I’m like oh wow cool. Mazel Tov! They look at me as if they want to kill me cause i'm not excited. (anymore)I’m sorry. But to cut into a different issue here for a second. YOU SPENT THE LAST 4 MONTHS TELLING ME YOUR GETTING ENGAGED!!You’ve set a date called the caterer. Tried on dresses, I know! I was happy for you for the last 4 freakin months I'M SORRY I’M NOT JUMPING FOR JOY AT THIS VERY SECCOND! I'm happy for you. honest. Just tell me when the wedding is…. I’ll be there with my smile I promise.
Now, I’m not knocking them in the least bit. I love all my friends and I am so extraordinarily happy for them. (With a sense of uncontrollable jealousy) But the truth of the matter is I stopped ages ago. (The drugs) And they went on to bigger and better things… i.e. Crazy intense drugs. They all seemed to have hit rock bottom at some point and now go sober.
Now opening them up to find clarity, happiness, and let’s not forget love. Simple, no?

Think about it.

It will be worth it. I spend what at the very least $50.00 bucks a week on shabbos. (being cheap) Well I could redirect that money for say, crack. I’m told it’s cheap. I'll eat less because I’m doing crack, never be hungry, and lose weight. Look amazing (not that I think in the least bit that I’m unattractive.) find g-d all over again. Quit smoking cigarettes stop drinking.. Wont ever have to hear “this event isn’t really for single girls” cause I wont go out much due to the fact that I’ll be too busy smoking crack, in some loft. Somewhere in this g-d forsaken city and then when I’m all frail and emaciated… I’ll wake up boom. Just like that. Realize that even the scum lesbian I’m sleeping with doesn’t want to be with me. I’ll find myself. Then a man who will aid me in sobering up.
It's a flawless plan. It seems everyone I know is in midst of doing this right now.
Maybe its just cause I’m not enough of an extremist. You know, I just didn’t follow through with my drug use.

Any idea where I can score some crack in the Brooklyn area?
or maybe I'll just go back to the coke....

Munich - Open Letter to the Editor,

I'm just passing it on:

AMERICANS FOR A SAFE ISRAEL/AFSI; 1623 Third Ave., Suite 205, New York, N.Y. 10128; afsi@rcn.com; www.afsi.org; Tel: 212-828-2424; Fax: 212-828-1717; December 21, 2005

Open Letter to the Editor,

Steven Spielberg’s film, MUNICH, is based on fraudulent information. Tragically, because he is such a good filmmaker, audiences will be deceived into taking his account, “inspired by real events,” to be the truth.

Israel’s newspaper, Haaretz, reports that “the movie is based on a book in which there is no truth.” Research confirms this. Canadian journalist George Jonas’ 1984 book : Vengeance: The True Story of an Israeli Counter-Terrorist Team, is used by Spielberg as his reference. Mr. Jonas relied largely on the information given him by Yuval Aviv, a man who posed as a Mossad agent, “even though he had never worked in the Mossad and certainly had not participated in operations to kill those involved in the athletes’ murder.” His only security experience was when he worked as a security guard for El Al in New York. Shaister.com tells us that “Zvi Zamir, who was head of Mossad during that period, has also stated on several occasions that he has never known Aviv and there there is no connection between what is related in Jonas’ book and what really happened.” Zamir also states that he was never contacted by Spielberg for the true facts in the case, and he is surprised that the director would “rely on this particular book” for his source material.

Dec. 21 marks the anniversary of the Pan Am 103 bombing over Lockerbie Scotland in 1988, which is related to the same Yuval Aviv and his fraudulent actions. The bombing, which claimed the lives of 243 passengers and 16 crew members. There were 37 students on board flying home from an overseas study program in London. One of those students was the only child of Susan and Dan Cohen, who have never ended their efforts to avenge their daughter’s death. The Cohens are very disturbed about the fact that Yuval Aviv, the same Mossad imposter who tried to take advantage of them, is the man whose fraudulent information was the source for Steven Spielberg’s new film, “Munich”.

According to the Cohens, Aviv’s “unscrupulous practice of telling tailor-made stories to the highest bidder” is illustrated by the fact that Aviv wrote a report exonerating Pan Am in the 103 matter which gained him much media attention. Aviv had previously contacted them “and offered information that would prove that Pan Am had been negligent in preventing the disaster,” just the opposite of what he was saying on behalf of Pan Am.

Spielberg does a disservice in basing his film on fallacious material, and presenting the Munich massacre and Israel’s response as a “perpetual motion machine” and a “quagmire of blood for blood”. He describes the massacre as a “response to a response”. One must ask Spielberg what the Arabs were “responding” to when they carried out their murderous deed.

By falsely creating an atmosphere of moral equivalency in his film, Spielberg adds to the pain and suffering of the Pan Am 103 families and all others who have been affected by the murderous actions of terrorists. By choosing to deceive his movie going public about the true nature of the “clash of civilizations” and Islam’s war against western civilization, he contributes to the threat to Israel, America, and the western world.

Funny Street Names.

I didnt write this. I've got lazy. I dont write. I need to start to write my own stuff. but in the mean time. All creativity in the writing of this artical belongs to .aol.com

Its just well written and full of fun facts.

If you're heading through North Dakota over the holidays, don't be surprised if your directions take you down Smashed-In Buffalo Head Road. Then again, if you're passing through the Detroit suburbs, try not to blush if you get off at Exit 69, otherwise known as Big Beaver Road. And appropriately enough, not far from the University of Michigan's school of political science, you might pass the intersection of Nixon/Bluet.

From Lois Lane to Chicken Shack Drive, the U.S. is lined by roadways with some wild, weird and wacky names. How did they get that way? Politics and history, mistranslations and vanity, as well as the occasional, odd sense of humor have made for much more interesting travel than were we simply a land of Main Streets and Broadways.

No doubt the oldest road names in America are those left by the Spaniards along the Florida and Gulf Coasts, the Southwest and California. The most obvious is El Camino Real -- the "Royal Road," running much of the length of old Spanish California. It's certainly a lot more colorful name than the King's Highway that spanned early settlements along the East Coast.

Those early settlements paid obeisance to the Crown, with roads like King, Prince or Queen. In areas settled by the French, including Detroit, modern-day residents still struggle to pronounce street names like Beaubien, Cadieux and Navarre. (Then again, Detroiters also pronounce Freud St. as Frood, and Goethe as Goatee.)

Early American street names often reflected their purpose, such as the Boston Post Road, running from New York City to Boston. There are plenty of these functional roads: Atwater, River, Canal and Railroad, Lake Shore, Market, Main and Broadway.

The nation is dotted with Plank Roads and Turnpikes. Early enterprising pioneers would lay wooden boards, or planks, to get travelers out of the mud on primitive trails. You'd pay your penny and they'd turn a wheel, raising the gate, or pike, to let you pass.

What about Deer Lick Road? It was likely a landmark for early settlers and travelers, just like Lime Kiln Lane and Smashed-In Buffalo Head Road.

After the Revolution, it became popular to name streets (as well as towns, counties and schools) after national heroes and leaders. We have countless Washington, Jefferson, Adams and Madison Streets. And the trend continues with modern leaders, hence the ubiquitous Martin Luther King boulevards.

But can anyone tell us who Fangboner Road., near Toledo, Ohio, was meant to honor?

Baby Boomers, otherwise known as the Me-Generation, have taken to heart that old rock and roll lyric, "Everybody Is a Star." The postage stamp-sized Pleasant Ridge, Mich., regularly auctions off the right to name a local street. So do a number of other cities across the U.S., so that's why you can find a Chicken Shack Lane leading to Elm Street. And why not honor your favorite comic book character, as one fan did with Lois Lane in Southfield, Mich.?

Early roads would weave and bob, following the local terrain. As a result of the Northwest Territory Act of 1787, lands north of the Ohio River and west of Pennsylvania were laid out in North-South and East-West grids.

So rapper Eminem hung out on Detroit's Eight Mile Road, the Motor City marking distance to a central point downtown. Other cities name their grid roads alphabetically, while in New York, Avenues run North-South and Streets run East-West.

Early New York was a maze of winding lanes. Finally, city fathers tried adopting the grid system, but it didn't always work right, so in Greenwich Village, you'll find the intersection of West 4th Street and West 4th Street.

Like the politically-charged intersection of Nixon/Bluet, intersections can create some unexpected complications of their own. New York offers us another, the anti-feminist meeting of Bangher and Leever.

The U.S. doesn't have a monopoly on odd names, of course. Some European names reflect ancient events or leaders, often in dialects no longer spoken. Politics also can play havoc. According to the online research site, Wikipedia, "Names are sometimes manipulated for political purposes; the name of Svetogorska Street, in Belgrade, was changed six times since 1872."

While there are plenty of odd and uncommon street names across the country, most communities show a surprising lack of imagination. Yet the U.S. Census Bureau suggests that even the ordinary can be a little odd.

You might think that First Street would be America's most popular road name. Think again. It follows Second and Third Streets, though Fourth Street does indeed come
in fourth place. Main Street? It ranks a relatively minor seventh on the top-10 list

Shana Tova!!

Have some insight on this holy day.

Torah lessons: Curtosy of Chabad.org

Chassidus Chabad opens the gates to the chambers of Chochma and Bina, enabling one to know and to recognize - with intellectual comprehension - "He who spoke and the world came into being. (1)

It awakens the feelings of the heart so that it is aroused with the emotion engendered by that particular intellectual comprehension. (2)

And Chassidus Chabad shows the way that each individual - commensurate with his innate abilities - can "approach the Sacred," to serve G-d with his mind and heart.

Science & G-d
-------------

In the nineteenth century, many scientists had no use for G-d. Instead, they worshipped a tight chain of cause and effect that left no room for miracles, providence or prophecy.

But then the scientist looked into the atom and the wonder of the universe opened before him. The iron chain of cause and effect was loosened and Determinism deposed from its throne. Today, once again there is room for G-d in the minds of men.

bored @ Work

Me too!

Okay so, from Rudolph being hung from a tree bleeding

To contemplating thoughts such as: what a Jew. Shleping Nachas.
We can’t even get nachas form someone with out adding guilt or kvetching about it. Damn.

Down to the 9.7 million dollars King Kong made yesterday. (By the way that’s not considered a whole lot. apparently) I don’t think there’s anything left online for me.

I'm soooo bored. I even did my Chitas online today!! What a slow day there seems to be a lot going on in the world. And I’m sick of looking at the computer!

By the way Chabad.com and
chabad.org two different sites 

In life, we almost never wait for 100% guarantees. We trust that the dentist is a dentist, the taxi driver is a taxi driver, and so on --and put our lives in their hands --on flimsy tacit evidence. Yet, when it comes to a simple good deed, people demand 100% proof that this is really what G-d wants them to do!

And this one I feel in love with yester day. It's just so brilliant.
Its touches the topic of takeing time off to figure things out.
Sparks a few thoughts.

(From a letter by the Rebbe:)

You write that you have taken a few years off from teaching to come to an understanding of "what it is all about."

Tell me, once you have determined an answer to your question, what will you do then? And in the meantime, just who and how many have benefited from all your searching?

Go back to teaching and change a few students' lives.

Just us
By Michelle Nevada

I just made a phone call to Israel. I think it cost me about 15 cents, with my phone card. What I got for that 15 cents, however, was worth much more than I can say.

I don’t know who picked up the phone, but when he said, “Daniel Pinner’s residence.” I began.

“I am calling from the United States,” I said. “I just wanted you to let Daniel know that we are all reading about Daniel, writing about Daniel, sending e-mails about Daniel, and that Daniel shouldn’t lose hope.”

There was a short silence, then the man said, “Do you mind, very much, calling back so that I can let the voice mail answer, and Daniel can get your message directly? He would love to hear your voice.”

I agreed, so I spent another 15 cents. This time, waiting though a message in Hebrew, then a message in English, then a beep. I’m not sure exactly what I said the second time, but I wanted to let this man know we haven’t forgotten about him, about what he did, and about how the justice system has treated him.

I do remember that I said, “Someday, G-d willing, we will have perfect Justice in Israel instead of the corrupt system we have now.”

Daniel Pinner is an electrician who volunteered his time to help the people of Gaza by connecting electrical services to the abandoned Palm Beach Hotel. This hotel served as temporary housing for those who were intent upon protesting the destruction of Gaza communities by the Sharon government. Daniel Pinner made the mistake of taking a walk down the beach, where he was attacked by a mob of 50 stone-throwing Arabs.

Intent upon protecting himself and his companions, Daniel fired his Uzi into the air. The crowd dispersed, then reformed and began again throwing rocks. Daniel fired again into the air.

Four days later, after he returned home, he was arrested and charged with wounding an Arab. There is no connection between his gun and the wounded Arab, but he has sat in jail for over five months waiting for trial. The Israeli government says Daniel, a man with no criminal record, is too “dangerous” to let out.

I can’t help but think that Daniel’s main reason for sitting in jail is not that he was falsely accused of shooting an Arab in the leg, but that he is a member of the community of Kfar Tapuach. Kfar Tapuach, is one of the most diverse towns in Judea and Samaria. Yemenites founded the town nearly 30 years ago, and it now has a mix of Russians, Americans and others ethnic groups, along with various political and social opinions. But the town is marked. If you ever read a newspaper article about Kfar Tapuach, you will hear of it referred to as a “Far Right-Wing” settlement, or a place where “Radical Jews” live.

It was the synagogue in Kfar Tapuach that dedicated a Torah with much pomp and celebration, only to hear the next day that the Israeli government was calling into question the “right” of the community to have built a synagogue in the first place. Then the government demanded to know how the road had been built, and, finally, they ordered the destruction of the synagogue.

Kfar Tapuach is also where David Haivri lives, the man who was accused in the infamous T-Shirt trial. David also sat in jail for months for no reason before being acquitted of the heinous and dangerous activity of selling T-Shirts.

If someone dares to live in Kfar Tapuach, or any of the other “settlements” that the Sharon government deems troublesome, the inhabitants, no matter what age, are marked by the justice system for harsh punishment—regardless of their guilt or innocence.

It was from Judea and Samaria that girls as young as 12 were arrested and held for months to await trail for such dangerous activities as protesting the destruction of Gaza, and yelling at Arab olive harvesters. These children are not dangerous criminals that need to be remanded until trial. They are kids from good families who wanted to take their opportunity to share in the history of the Jewish state and express the values that have been handed down to them through Torah—love of the land of Israel.

But this is the way the “Justice” system works in Israel today. Justice, for those who live in Samaria, Judea, and the former Gaza communities has become “Just us.” If you are a member of the communities that Sharon has slated for destruction, you are a criminal. It doesn’t matter what you have done or not done because they will find a way to make the arrest legitimate somehow. In the outside chance that they can’t find a reason to hold you after the trial is over, they will have, at least, disrupted your education, your income, or your personal life to such an extent that you will be permanently damaged in some way.

It is in this political climate that State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss will soon release her report on the Gaza withdrawal plan, focusing upon the civil rights abuses by the government in the apprehension, arrest, and detaining of many of the protestors for no other reason than their disapproval of the Sharon government. It is a report that is desperately needed, but will, I am sure, be quickly hidden and muffled in all but the alternative presses in Israel—especially during an election season.

But, report or not, the lack of justice in the Israeli “Justice” system is more than inconvenient—it is dangerous. Today it may be the “settlers” that Sharon’s government wants to silence. But who will it be tomorrow? When one man is in jail for an extended period of time without rights, it should give every citizen, visitor, and official of Israel pause. Imperfect justice is expected, but corrupt justice threatens every person in the land of Israel. Daniel Pinner is just one man, but he could be you, or me, or your best friend, or a member of your family. We cannot stand by and watch these injustices without action. In the words of Benjamin Franklin, "We must indeed all hang together, or most assuredly we will all hang separately."

Why is Gwen Ghetto?

I had a revelation today about Gwen Stefani,

Her music has become, lets say.. not exactly what it was. Ehem.. chough: sh*t) ehem.. Sorry clearing my throat, whew, she becoming more irritating by the day. I seem to think someone slapped the talent right out of her punk ass and turned it in to ghetto booty.

Oy. Where do all the wild ones go?

The only reason she still has my attention. Is cause shes married to Gavin Rosdale.

American Money B"H

A Daily Dose from my email.

American Money

Do you know why American money is so successful? Because it has written on it, "In G-d We Trust."
Not just "Believe." "Trust."

Furthermore, the money even tells you its purpose: Upon it is written, "E Pluribus Unum." The purpose of all your dealings with money is to make from many a Oneness. And if that is truly your purpose, then you will rely on the One Creator to provide your needs.

Quick thoughts. I’ll get into it more at another time:

A. When someone repeatedly tries to help you out. But absolutely never comes thru for you. AHHH!!!!!! Running around screaming and pulling my hair out!
You can’t get upset with them because they went out of there way at tried.
And they have their own drama. I mean is it their fault they seem to attract that much drama??? OY, how do you say thank you to someone who didn’t get the job done?

B. I heard a great quote in a promo for a new ABC show called “Emily’s reasons why not “Instead of looking for a man to make me feel complete I should consider looking at myself as already whole.” I think. That line touched me.

C. what do you do with an abundance of secrets??

Say whah?

Todays a whole new day.

Tomorrow will also be. . .

And the day after. . .

Sometime I think I should sit and write something.
Then I remember my boss can walk in any minute and get annoyed that I’m blogging. Not that he really cares, he just likes to pick fun at the whole idea. He’s a punk. What can you do?

So I was recently thinking about whole mess of things. And there all running circles around my head. So at a desperate attempt to save myself from insanity I want to get them out. Rambling through the key board seems to be the best way. This way I don’t have to sit down and speak in riddles and no one has to listen.
(Some people say I do that) I think it totally works for me. So screw it.

One thing bouncing around in my head:
the noise, that guys make. And now before you freak out and get all weird. That isn’t what it sounds like.. Understand this thought here. I’m noticing more and more lately that guys have a tendency to make funny noises when they have nothing to say. I.e. Buguly bugly boo & chabawallah… (said with an Israeli accent) now of all the insanity I can think of. I still don’t know why the hell they do that?

Is there a purpose? Does it mean something?
My synopsis:
No. that’s the answer. No, it means nothing. They seem to do it to fill the void of silence. Are they afraid to think? Oh no if it’s silent in the room sh*t, I may have to focus on what’s in my head. ::shaking my head..:: Nebach.

Guys. Get over it. Are you really that scared to process a thought?
Honestly. I don’t get it.

On another note:
I’m cutting this short.

I don’t know. To be continued. . . . . . . . . . .

Outrage for Earl Krugel

does anyone remember Irv Rubin? A few years a go he was put in prison because the government was looking for jewish terrorsts even though there are none. (So they would look even among the muslim communities..) They set up Irv Rubin and said he was planning to bomb a mosque etc. then mysteriously he is killed in jail and it is called a suicide.

This morning i found this out. It is no surprise that this doesnt even make the news. Hashem yikom domam Nekama al Aravim and whoever took part in this disgusting cover up murder"

To Be.. Or Not To Be..

A B*tch…
So that’s my question.

These are some thoughts I was having. It’s nothing too interesting, so if you don’t normally read here. You might not want to start with this piece :)

I have issues. I'm a generally very friendly person. Okay so sometimes I come off as a bit intimidating and scary at first. But once you get to know me. I'm really a chilled out hippie at heart. (And starting to look like it on the outside.)
Anyway, not the point: I think my point is. I don’t know how to handle some people. Specifically the selfish kind who always focus on themselves. It doesn’t matter who they step on, on the way up as long as they have their own back covered… its all good.
I write them off automatically. It’s like first nature. I don’t know why I do it. Maybe it’s a recurring thing from my childhood and I’m sure a shrink would blame my father. But I'm not choosing to go down that route. I want to deal with it. I want to not roll my eyes when someone I don’t like is speaking especially when they talk sh*t. I want to be able to react like anyone else would in stead of cutting them down to size. It just irritates me. I feel like when you don’t like something about someone else it’s always a reflection of something you don’t like about yourself.
does this mean I'm a selfish person who talks a lot of smack who people find hard to communicate to and oy... what am i?

I always prided myself on trying to be a kind honest person who people can relate to and come to if they need something.. my door is always open and I always answer my phone if I'm needed. So why would I have such a hard time with this person??
oy.

PROTEST TUESDAY AGAINST IRAN IN NYC

NYC Protest Against Iran
23:00 Oct 31, '05 / 28 Tishrei 5766

(IsraelNN.com) A busload of High School students, alarmed by Iranian President Ahmadinejad’s repeated, public threats a week ago to annihilate Israel, will demonstrate at the Iranian mission to the United Nations on Tuesday, November 1st, at 5:30PM. The mission is at 622 Third Avenue, at 40th Street, in Manhattan.

The students are from the Frisch Yeshiva High School. They stated: “We have learned that Hitler wasn’t taken seriously when he declared for years that he’d wipe out the Jews. In so many cases since then, from Rwanda to Darfur, threats of extermination weren’t heeded – until they occurred.”

Along with the Frisch students, scores of other students and Jewish activists will be demonstrating.

“Now is the time for the world to wake up to the threat of Iran. Now is the time for the world to condemn Iran and stop mass murder before it’s too late,” stated Rabbi Avi Weiss, President of AMCHA.

Sticks & Stones at the Kotel. A letter from a Soldier

This is being passed on.
Its a letter by a young man from toronto, currently serving in the green uniform as a volunteer. serving and undergoing training a to out home land.

from his keyboard to the minds of all jews everywhere, amen.

B"H
Hello, I am a soldier of the Nachal Charedi brigade; and I would like to share something very important with you. This past Friday I went to the place I love to go most, the Kotel. Upon my arrival a very disturbing thing welcomed me. The Israeli general who was in charge of the withdrawal went to the Kotel for davaning, when he got there people surrounded him and began to push him; the police came to his help and brought him to the back and put him in the security building. the building was surrounded by people pushing and shouting. After a few minutes more police got there and I saw a fight break out and the withdrew their sticks and the last I saw, one officer struck a young man with his stick. Something inside of me snapped, the pain was to much to bare. So I ran to the wall and wept like a little child for a little while when I stoped crying I turned to look back, and there was a settler Jew who said to me "achi nirali sheyaish yehudi shetzarich chibuck" (brother it seams to me that there is a Jew who needs a hug) and he embraced me and we cried together and he told me he feels my pain and that I have to be strong. Afterwords I looked at him thought to myself how this is the reason why we will come out strong and overcome our challenges cause of people like him! I than wished him good Shabbos and left the Kotel, my mind however was so mixed up I felt so many things at the same time, i felt torn at the sight of grown religious men who one second are praying to g=d and the next second acting like a bunch of animals to A JEW going to pray to the exact same g=d as them. I felt angry of the sight of a Jew hitting another Jew, how could people let the anger fuel inside of them? It was such a terrible thing that Gush Qatif was given away I think if g=d decided to let that happen maybe it was a message to us, surely not a message of hate your fellow Jew, i just don't think that's what he wanted. Anyways I continued on out of the Kotel and I felt the need for some wise advice from someone so I went to the house of this rabbi I know in the old city. When I got to his house I couldn't bring myself to go in and ruin his meal so I left, five minutes later as i was walking up the steps by the Rova who do I bump into? This Rabbi whose house i went to earlier, I saw him and broke down and asked him why people are so silly as to let this happen to further separate the Jewish nation? What was the purpose of them acting like that? It just fuels both sides anger and continues the endless cycle of hate and "sinus chinum" that will never end until we break this cycle. He told me that the people were feeling allot of anger about the whole withdrawal and instead of pointing the finger at ourselves we point it at this general and that prime minister, because it is allot easier than pointing at ourselves and saying maybe there is something we need to do to strengthen this nation maybe our love for a fellow Jew is not strong enough! The point of this letter basically is to let you all in a little secret; we aren't getting any-were with this hate, the gift of this state of Israel is the biggest present g=d has given us since the second bet hamikdash! and instead of taking advantage of that we are turning our heads and not doing enough to love your fellow Jew, every Jew. because when we are all separated we are weak and we need to unite every Jew and accept then with open arms be he or her chasidik, misnagid, dati, chiloni, punk rock star. Open your eyes and see how this cycle of hatred only setts us back, let us all stand up and break share the beauty g=d has given us so we can unite one strong nation and ultimately bring the meshiach to a world filled with love! I know it sounds ridiculous that we can make a difference but we can one Jew at a time.
So please share this with as many people as you can with this letter or with your own words, let people know that they can make a difference, share the wealth!
Shana tova umetuka! happy blessed new year!

Flip-flops disrespectful… I think not.

I can’t imagine this is so bad. That we’re so relaxed to wear flip flops in the White House It just shows that we’re evolving in some sort of way. Being more comfortable with our government it’s not like it’s a Synagogue or church. Hey it’s better than naked protests on the lawn on the White House… Isn’t that what our parents were doing? Reflections from an empty mind.

So, once again it’s Yom Kippur. A time of atonement, a time to reflect figure out what I’m doing, why, and where to go from here on in… How can I fix my wrongs to better myself, make it all alright. For I am a soldier in the army of Hashem a servant unto him. The holy of holy is our G-d and master of the universe. Allowing me to continue on in the great world of his in such a severe time in the universe. With earth quakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, mudslides, floods ravaging. And yet I am still here. Whole, and unharmed.

Thank you Hashem for letting me continue on another day. Thank you for making me aware that I do serve a function here and now. Perhaps if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be here today.

Arabs Occupy Rebbitzen’s Gravesite

The Jewish community in Hebron was shocked to discover on Tuesday that Arabs have erected caravans on Jewish-owned land next to Hebron’s ancient Jewish cemetery, where Rebbitzen Menucha Rochel’s gravesite is located. Although this piece of land belongs to the Jewish community, the IDF did not include it within the security fence that it put up around the cemetery. The Arabs intend to open a school on the site.

It is believed that several Jewish graves are located on the land, since it used to be part of the cemetery. Close by are the graves of Rabbi Shimon Menashe Chaikin and Rabbi Moshe Meshel Gelbstein.

When the director of the Hebron municipal committee, Avraham Ben Yosef, contacted Hebron’s civil administration, he was told that “this is Arab territory, and the Hebron municipality has approved construction at the site.”

Nice Tush

Oy, so in the event that you get caught checking someone out… what exactly do you do other than turn pink in the cheeks..?
I dunno but I wish I had the answer.

Oy, so embarrassing, even for me.

Okay, so I had this customer come in today and ask if we have a something in stock. I tell him I think so. Go check. Find what he’s looking for. (I hoped)
Well he asks several times. I tell him with the utmost confidence I can stir up (being that I’m not 100% of this and I definitely wouldn’t bet the farm) noticing his hot little sports car outside. I tell him if it’s not right. Come back and it will be on me.
Se he reiterates with how about lunch will be on you…

Hum… so I very nicely “tell him like it is…” “I don’t eat lunch.” -I don’t know what I was thinking. I wasn’t a hot man with a flashy car that’s quick and flirtatious… what more can I ask for on this boring Monday morning??? Oh yea, a circumcision.
Anywho. After making a fool of myself, and explaining what I meant by “I don’t eat lunch”. He walks out… I continue to look long enough to catch him looking back at me with a “yea, I know I’m hot” grin.
Busted.

So let us all take a moment to say a prayer and hope he I gave him the right part.

One last post for the morning..

Viva la Ruckus!!

I seem to... well, pervious to this morning: I had fallen asleep at the keyboard. It’s been a little while since I wrote anything worth reading. Or even wrote anything at all. I’m not sure what to call it. But I’ve been having fun; I feel like I could be sharing the fun. But it all happens too quickly. I have to learn how to take what I’ve learned and apply it to lessons in life. Cause everyday something happens and I just can’t explain it. But it’s a great feeling when you know you’re alive and not just living.

That will be my quote of the day. It’s a great feeling to know your living and not just alive!!

Maybe I'll have something to say after bluegrass tonight..

That’s all folks!!

Matisyahu in stuff magizine???

There's a really cute caption you cant see over his head. Say's "Challah Back!!"

So I took my new copy of Stuff magazine to my neighbors cause it comes to my house and I have no use for it.
While my friend is looking at it he’s like yo, girl… your not gonna believe this. He’s like Matisyahu is in here… to my shock and amazement I look over…

He was really there. Stuff Magazine did a shout out to Matisyahu. Go figure?!

Help I've fallen & I can’t get up!!

So yesterday I had accident number 2 with my bike. This time the scars are gonna be much cooler!! –I know. I’m a dork. Get over it! I have...

Apology from a tree hugging hippie who showers and irons her hair.

I haven’t been much for an updated blog lately. I feel like there isn’t much to write about that wouldn’t depress anyone. There’s so much chaos in the world right now. People are dealing with so much tragedy, disaster and sickness right now. It’s hard to really focus on anything much right now.

Plus, the few comments I’ve gotten lately were from spammers anyway..

So here’s something I wanted to think a about out loud.
This past shabbos I learned how much I have grown, this past summer alone. I’m doing well. I feel good. I know good people, I’ve seen some of the most amazing things my eyes could have ever captured and I do good things. I am “good people” I’m aware of who I am. What I’ve done in the past and where I stand on a lot of issues. Things I didn’t even know, I didn’t know. I feel like, if it’s possible at all I know right from wrong.

I did all this hanging out with new people. Not per say that all of them are on such a high madragah, I’m not putting anyone on a pedestal. I can just acknowledge the things they have taught me regardless of weather they wanted to or not. I will say. When someone is doing something you don’t respect, think of it this way.. why does that bother me? What about me is it, that makes this so uncomfortable…? this past weekend; I didn’t do that. I should have. I just judged. I shouldn’t have and I realize that now. So to a name in the obis, a person whom will never be reading this.. I am sorry. You are unaware I had judged you. I had no right. it was wrong of me.

Terror Tax on Stoners

I robbed this from Jahfiltefish.com but its interesting so enjoy.

Terror Tax on Stoners
Drug Dealers Avoid Subways, Take Taxis

Bag searches are costing New Yorkers more than just time. With the police declaring they’ll arrest subway riders if they find anything non-explosive but still illegal, the price of drug deliveries is rising. Nervous purveyors are pressing along the cost of taxis to customers.
“My dealer won’t take the train anymore” complains Wiley, a 30 year old marketing executive and avid pot smoker. “He charged me an extra $12 for his cab fare today. It’s ridiculous.” Call it the anti terror tax. “If the runners got to give a little extra, you’re gonna give a little extra” says Flower a grandmother and coke dealer who runs her business from a bar beneath her Lower East Side apartment (and says her clients before the crackdown included a network-news executive). She pauses on her bar stool. “Otherwise, come down here and get it yourself.”

Note: Pastor Jim Vineyard is one of the most vocal American opponents of the disengagement from Gaza. He leads a large flock based in Oklahoma.

Dear Pastor Vineyard,

The evacuation from Gaza was a terrible tragedy that uprooted thousands of Jews from their homes.

Hurricane Katrina is a terrible tragedy that has uprooted thousands, if not millions, of Americans.

Could it be possible, Pastor, that the Lord has judged America, measure for measure, for pressuring Israel to evacuate Jews from the Promised Land?

In the merit of all the good, God fearing Americas who opposed the evil disengagement plan, may America be spared from further tragedy. May our government realize the error of its ways and desist from pressuring Israel to make any further concessions to terror.

With Blessings,

Katrina's losing her fight..

Call me odd, call me insane…. It’s all good. I don’t care.
I love tracking hurricanes!! I’m am sorry for the people who have to deal with them… but I would love to be there right now. In a safe place, but there, in the eye of the storm. definitely not here. but somewhere in the area. Who makes an evacuation site that has been known to be unstable??? Geniuses.

From north to south about 1,000 miles of pure destruction.

So if you have as strong an interest as I do you can check out these cool sites.

Okay. I've been tagged by I assume that means I’m making friends. Yea me.

The Rules: List five songs that you are currently digging - it doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions and the five songs (with artist) in your blog. Then tag five people to see what they're listening to.

Lost Neshamas....

What about the cemetery’s?

Moshe Predicted the Disengagement..?

So, I had a whole post that I will have to revise later. My boss is an over grown child who erased it.I will have to fix it all later. But I wanted to get my point out before the end of the day.

I want you all to stop and put aside the politics for a minute. Stop, and remember the torah. We try and follow all the Mitzvots.. We possibly can.

This week’s Parsha is Va'etchanan. Very appropriate.

Moshe, repeats the 10 commandments. The beginning of Shema is recited.
And we are being prepared to enter Israel… our first time. This is the very parsha that states this land is our land. One interesting thing I happened to learn about last night was when living in a city surrounded by your enemies you’re not allowed to talk to them about business, politics, the weather, or as it happens to mentions the land.
(I'm still researching the source for this.)

Moshe Predicts the Exile..

When you shall beget children, and children's children, and you shall have remained long in the land, and shall deal corruptly, and make a carved idol, the likeness of anything, and shall do evil in the sight of G-d your G-d, to provoke him to anger:
I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land into which you go over the Jordan to possess it; you shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.
And G-d will scatter you among the nations, and you shall be left few in number among the nations, where G-d shall lead you. And there you shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
And from there you will seek G-d your G-d, and you will find Him, for you will seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
When you are in distress, and all these things are come upon you, in the latter days, you will return to G-d your G-d, and you will hearken to His voice.
For G-d your G-d is a merciful G-d; He will not forsake you, nor will He destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.

I think its interesting how maybe; we should feel we were being prepared for this. I will work on this later. While you wait for more Take a look at this weeks Parsha.

My head...

This is kind of all over the place. But I want to share a lot of thoughts baised on comments and conversations I had over the day:

I realize my comparing Gaza to Nazi Germany is a bit drastic. I’m not oblivious to that. It’s just such a scary reminder to me how easy it is for a rival to reposition us out of the way. Like a game of chess. The people there are being force out of there homes. Were talking about Homes, Schools, Shuls, and community’s they have built up and have been living in. it’s not like the Arabs built those houses and they ant them back. They just decided WE WANT THIS LAND.
So, to avoid more senseless terrorist attacks we’re just goanna give it to them. Yea. That ’ell stop em from blowing themselves up on our busses.
What kind of nonsense is this??

It’s very easy to turn your back and say “the government is compensating them”. But the issue is being told to leave. Mamish being kicked out of there homes and relocated. How would you feel? We’re all visitors here in the US.. This is not our home. That is. And piece by piece. It’s being taken away. You give a little and they want a lot… the worst part is they now know, they can get it!!

I just can’t comprehend how America’s can be behind this. How CNN can be slandering “the settlers” I thought we don’t give in to terrorists negations. That’s simply what’s going on here. This isn’t the peace process. It’s a pieces process. One piece at a time for the terrorists. These are there children.

Enough said.

And that is my land. Living in America doesn’t change the fact that I am a Jew. Today I mourn. And I think we will be adding this to the calendar as another day we fast.

Something I recently leaned:

Something I recently learned from a shur Shlomo Carlbach gave says. If a stranger were to step on your toe you would be angry, but if someone you loved did it, it hurts you so much more. Cause you love them.. Not reacting to this is supposed to be the best way to deal with it. Because by getting angry you would be bringing the negative energy down into this world; he says to walk away. The love is so intense that in order to keep balance in the world. You would have to fill your heart with that much negativity in order to balance out the love. So the only thing you can do is to walk away and forget it.

How does one do that from this view?

I always say hate is a strong word.
You couldn’t hate anything because you have to love it in order to hate it. It has to own that little piece of emotion in your heart. There for its not possible to hate.

How do I not hate the people who did this?

I Mamish Cant Deal...

I can’t do it anymore. I cant see the pictures.. I don’t want to watch the news... I Manmish cant. I just, I don’t know where to divert my attention anymore. I’m losing it. It’s not even right to say it makes me want to cry. I have.

In my head all I can see is Nazi Germany, where Jews are being evicted from there homes and dragged away.. Only so that their enemies.. The very people who devote there life’s to killing us!! These are the people were being evicted for? So that they can move in. to give there an ocean view and bring in more weapons by the boat load..?!!?
What is this alternate universe do I live in? I wish there was something I could do. Something more than just an orange wrist band…

Abishter please…please.. Help us please. Hashem Yirachem…. Make it stop.

Yeay!!!!!

My project at work is finished!!
Soon soon I will be back to rainny blogging days.. :)

Do Guys Think?

I officially decided I know the answer. For a few weeks now I’ve been trying to get in to this guys head. He wants me, he don’t want me. He makes sure to get me alone when we're hanging out… confides in me. Tells me secrets, personally I could have lived with out.

The point is. I had no idea what was going on for the last few weeks. Now this past week I figured it all out. There’s no more guessing involved. This is 100% with out a doubt the only answer. And this is my final answer!!

I HAVE NO EFFING CLUE!!

Who the hell allowed guys to think for themselves in the first place? This shouldn’t be allowed!! If men are allowed to vote on women’s issues, we should be allowed to vote on there’s.
So from today forward; I’m starting a petition. A revolution in the world, if I may call it. To take the right away from man, to be allowed to think on his own. He doesn’t know what he wants anyway!!

Do you know how hard there’s games are?
Why do men say we are the master of games?
Woman are always playing with guys heads… bah bah… whine whine… that’s all they do! Well now’s my turn to bitch and moan. Don’t give me personal attention; don’t tell me to come away with you. If your not going to ask me out or at least make a pass at me. Something anything, just some sort of sign that your interested. Please!? Is that asking too much?? Did that little mouse fall off the wheel? is it no longer spining?! Ahh... so annoying.

Over Commenting

I seem to over comment sometimes. I know, I know, But I like commenting more than I like posting I just get all trigger happy with the key board. I think I'm gonna start posting about my comments. This way I don't have to post on other sites... I'll bolg about bloggers..

Any rule that says I cant do that??

Tattoos.....

Whats the stigma with tattoos.

In this day and age where they can be removed or you can even get them in England where they fade after like 7 yrs.

Personally, I don’t think they are that big a deal. I’m noticing more and more on modern but frum girls I know who have them.

If you noticed it, is that something that would make you think right off the bat. Oh, this girl isn’t frum? Or would you think oh, maybe she’s a bal tchuva??

What do you think?

New Restaurant in Flatbush

MY Official Review of Muda (located on Ave M and Coney Island)

I went to try out a new restaurant in Flatbush last night. To sum up my experience I have to say it was horrific. They told us they only had one table. Right smack dab in the middle of the room. So we asked if we needed reservations. They said “No, it’s not out policy”. we took the table.. Even thou we saw other tables free in the room. Just for your knowledge they have a second level. Mean while back at out table not only did I get knocked and tapped on the shoulder all night my hair managed to get stuck on the waitresses watch while she was taking another tables order.. (her friends witch she spent half the night talking to)

We spent “honest to g-d’ an hour waiting for 2 pasta dishes salad and sushi, and finnaly got our drinks when they brought us the food.
The pasta witch was lukewarm, extremely dry and we were afraid to send it back assuming it would take another half an hour.

So the end result: 7 dollars for a California roll. NOT WORTH IT.
Save your time and money. Walk across the street.

Whining will get you no where!!

cuntinued from comments page.....

But don’t sit around whining and telling us were lazy, look stupid and we lack something real to believe in. it’s a cause. Even if it’s just between us and the guy next door, we’re showing him what side of the fence were’ on. No one told “Chaim he has to put it on his car or he’s an anti Semite’ someone simply handed him an orange ribbon. What did he accomplish by throwing it out? It made you feel better? (Oh, I’ll show them, sticking that tacky orange thing on your car and parking it in front of my house…. in my face. Oh, maybe I’ll make sure its hanging out of my garbage can so they can exactly what I tied it to…)

We’re doing what we can in a way we can. Yes I value my life. So instead of marching into Gush Gatif with a hundred other Yiddem I’m going to get my self an orange ribbon or even an orange band. And sport the orange thing with pride. And you know what, that’s my choice. I’m goanna wear it. And I’m not sorry if in any way it offends you when you pass me in the street.

I can’t for the life of me, see why you think it’s a Chillul Hashem?
Cause it hasn’t been exploited in the media. There for Goyim don’t know what it represents. ……I’m lost. I just don’t understand what the hang up is.
A friend of mine spent shabbos in one of those ridicules orange T-shirts. That says Jew vs. Jew with the think thru it. (I’m sure you’ve all seen it.) Now I see its not only talking about Israel. It’s talking about the people here who just don’t have an opinion. Can’t make up there mind. So they will take it out on other Jews and blast them in your own personal forum. Maybe some of them don’t know enough about the politics… what ever it is… ignorance isn’t a reason to pick at another Yid just because you’re “Blorange”. You can’t sit on the fence and look down at everyone else. It’s just not right you’re not accomplishing anything. Other than making you seem jus a leeee bit like a whining baby. You seem to be a well edegamakated guy. I think you can come up with something better to post about.

Don’t hate what you can’t understand!!
