Open Letter to the Editor,



Steven Spielberg’s film, MUNICH, is based on fraudulent information. Tragically, because he is such a good filmmaker, audiences will be deceived into taking his account, “inspired by real events,” to be the truth.



Israel’s newspaper, Haaretz, reports that “the movie is based on a book in which there is no truth.” Research confirms this. Canadian journalist George Jonas’ 1984 book : Vengeance: The True Story of an Israeli Counter-Terrorist Team, is used by Spielberg as his reference. Mr. Jonas relied largely on the information given him by Yuval Aviv, a man who posed as a Mossad agent, “even though he had never worked in the Mossad and certainly had not participated in operations to kill those involved in the athletes’ murder.” His only security experience was when he worked as a security guard for El Al in New York. Shaister.com tells us that “Zvi Zamir, who was head of Mossad during that period, has also stated on several occasions that he has never known Aviv and there there is no connection between what is related in Jonas’ book and what really happened.” Zamir also states that he was never contacted by Spielberg for the true facts in the case, and he is surprised that the director would “rely on this particular book” for his source material.



Dec. 21 marks the anniversary of the Pan Am 103 bombing over Lockerbie Scotland in 1988, which is related to the same Yuval Aviv and his fraudulent actions. The bombing, which claimed the lives of 243 passengers and 16 crew members. There were 37 students on board flying home from an overseas study program in London. One of those students was the only child of Susan and Dan Cohen, who have never ended their efforts to avenge their daughter’s death. The Cohens are very disturbed about the fact that Yuval Aviv, the same Mossad imposter who tried to take advantage of them, is the man whose fraudulent information was the source for Steven Spielberg’s new film, “Munich”.



According to the Cohens, Aviv’s “unscrupulous practice of telling tailor-made stories to the highest bidder” is illustrated by the fact that Aviv wrote a report exonerating Pan Am in the 103 matter which gained him much media attention. Aviv had previously contacted them “and offered information that would prove that Pan Am had been negligent in preventing the disaster,” just the opposite of what he was saying on behalf of Pan Am.



Spielberg does a disservice in basing his film on fallacious material, and presenting the Munich massacre and Israel’s response as a “perpetual motion machine” and a “quagmire of blood for blood”. He describes the massacre as a “response to a response”. One must ask Spielberg what the Arabs were “responding” to when they carried out their murderous deed.



By falsely creating an atmosphere of moral equivalency in his film, Spielberg adds to the pain and suffering of the Pan Am 103 families and all others who have been affected by the murderous actions of terrorists. By choosing to deceive his movie going public about the true nature of the “clash of civilizations” and Islam’s war against western civilization, he contributes to the threat to Israel, America, and the western world.

If you're heading through North Dakota over the holidays, don't be surprised if your directions take you down Smashed-In Buffalo Head Road. Then again, if you're passing through the Detroit suburbs, try not to blush if you get off at Exit 69, otherwise known as Big Beaver Road. And appropriately enough, not far from the University of Michigan's school of political science, you might pass the intersection of Nixon/Bluet.


From Lois Lane to Chicken Shack Drive, the U.S. is lined by roadways with some wild, weird and wacky names. How did they get that way? Politics and history, mistranslations and vanity, as well as the occasional, odd sense of humor have made for much more interesting travel than were we simply a land of Main Streets and Broadways.


No doubt the oldest road names in America are those left by the Spaniards along the Florida and Gulf Coasts, the Southwest and California. The most obvious is El Camino Real -- the "Royal Road," running much of the length of old Spanish California. It's certainly a lot more colorful name than the King's Highway that spanned early settlements along the East Coast.


Those early settlements paid obeisance to the Crown, with roads like King, Prince or Queen. In areas settled by the French, including Detroit, modern-day residents still struggle to pronounce street names like Beaubien, Cadieux and Navarre. (Then again, Detroiters also pronounce Freud St. as Frood, and Goethe as Goatee.)

Early American street names often reflected their purpose, such as the Boston Post Road, running from New York City to Boston. There are plenty of these functional roads: Atwater, River, Canal and Railroad, Lake Shore, Market, Main and Broadway.


The nation is dotted with Plank Roads and Turnpikes. Early enterprising pioneers would lay wooden boards, or planks, to get travelers out of the mud on primitive trails. You'd pay your penny and they'd turn a wheel, raising the gate, or pike, to let you pass.


What about Deer Lick Road? It was likely a landmark for early settlers and travelers, just like Lime Kiln Lane and Smashed-In Buffalo Head Road.


After the Revolution, it became popular to name streets (as well as towns, counties and schools) after national heroes and leaders. We have countless Washington, Jefferson, Adams and Madison Streets. And the trend continues with modern leaders, hence the ubiquitous Martin Luther King boulevards.


But can anyone tell us who Fangboner Road., near Toledo, Ohio, was meant to honor?


Baby Boomers, otherwise known as the Me-Generation, have taken to heart that old rock and roll lyric, "Everybody Is a Star." The postage stamp-sized Pleasant Ridge, Mich., regularly auctions off the right to name a local street. So do a number of other cities across the U.S., so that's why you can find a Chicken Shack Lane leading to Elm Street. And why not honor your favorite comic book character, as one fan did with Lois Lane in Southfield, Mich.?


Early roads would weave and bob, following the local terrain. As a result of the Northwest Territory Act of 1787, lands north of the Ohio River and west of Pennsylvania were laid out in North-South and East-West grids.


So rapper Eminem hung out on Detroit's Eight Mile Road, the Motor City marking distance to a central point downtown. Other cities name their grid roads alphabetically, while in New York, Avenues run North-South and Streets run East-West.


Early New York was a maze of winding lanes. Finally, city fathers tried adopting the grid system, but it didn't always work right, so in Greenwich Village, you'll find the intersection of West 4th Street and West 4th Street.


Like the politically-charged intersection of Nixon/Bluet, intersections can create some unexpected complications of their own. New York offers us another, the anti-feminist meeting of Bangher and Leever.


The U.S. doesn't have a monopoly on odd names, of course. Some European names reflect ancient events or leaders, often in dialects no longer spoken. Politics also can play havoc. According to the online research site, Wikipedia, "Names are sometimes manipulated for political purposes; the name of Svetogorska Street, in Belgrade, was changed six times since 1872."

While there are plenty of odd and uncommon street names across the country, most communities show a surprising lack of imagination. Yet the U.S. Census Bureau suggests that even the ordinary can be a little odd.


You might think that First Street would be America's most popular road name. Think again. It follows Second and Third Streets, though Fourth Street does indeed come

in fourth place. Main Street? It ranks a relatively minor seventh on the top-10 list

I just made a phone call to Israel. I think it cost me about 15 cents, with my phone card. What I got for that 15 cents, however, was worth much more than I can say.

I don’t know who picked up the phone, but when he said, “Daniel Pinner’s residence.” I began.

“I am calling from the United States,” I said. “I just wanted you to let Daniel know that we are all reading about Daniel, writing about Daniel, sending e-mails about Daniel, and that Daniel shouldn’t lose hope.”

There was a short silence, then the man said, “Do you mind, very much, calling back so that I can let the voice mail answer, and Daniel can get your message directly? He would love to hear your voice.”

I agreed, so I spent another 15 cents. This time, waiting though a message in Hebrew, then a message in English, then a beep. I’m not sure exactly what I said the second time, but I wanted to let this man know we haven’t forgotten about him, about what he did, and about how the justice system has treated him.

I do remember that I said, “Someday, G-d willing, we will have perfect Justice in Israel instead of the corrupt system we have now.”

Daniel Pinner is an electrician who volunteered his time to help the people of Gaza by connecting electrical services to the abandoned Palm Beach Hotel. This hotel served as temporary housing for those who were intent upon protesting the destruction of Gaza communities by the Sharon government. Daniel Pinner made the mistake of taking a walk down the beach, where he was attacked by a mob of 50 stone-throwing Arabs.

Intent upon protecting himself and his companions, Daniel fired his Uzi into the air. The crowd dispersed, then reformed and began again throwing rocks. Daniel fired again into the air.

Four days later, after he returned home, he was arrested and charged with wounding an Arab. There is no connection between his gun and the wounded Arab, but he has sat in jail for over five months waiting for trial. The Israeli government says Daniel, a man with no criminal record, is too “dangerous” to let out.

I can’t help but think that Daniel’s main reason for sitting in jail is not that he was falsely accused of shooting an Arab in the leg, but that he is a member of the community of Kfar Tapuach. Kfar Tapuach, is one of the most diverse towns in Judea and Samaria. Yemenites founded the town nearly 30 years ago, and it now has a mix of Russians, Americans and others ethnic groups, along with various political and social opinions. But the town is marked. If you ever read a newspaper article about Kfar Tapuach, you will hear of it referred to as a “Far Right-Wing” settlement, or a place where “Radical Jews” live.

It was the synagogue in Kfar Tapuach that dedicated a Torah with much pomp and celebration, only to hear the next day that the Israeli government was calling into question the “right” of the community to have built a synagogue in the first place. Then the government demanded to know how the road had been built, and, finally, they ordered the destruction of the synagogue.

Kfar Tapuach is also where David Haivri lives, the man who was accused in the infamous T-Shirt trial. David also sat in jail for months for no reason before being acquitted of the heinous and dangerous activity of selling T-Shirts.

If someone dares to live in Kfar Tapuach, or any of the other “settlements” that the Sharon government deems troublesome, the inhabitants, no matter what age, are marked by the justice system for harsh punishment—regardless of their guilt or innocence.

It was from Judea and Samaria that girls as young as 12 were arrested and held for months to await trail for such dangerous activities as protesting the destruction of Gaza, and yelling at Arab olive harvesters. These children are not dangerous criminals that need to be remanded until trial. They are kids from good families who wanted to take their opportunity to share in the history of the Jewish state and express the values that have been handed down to them through Torah—love of the land of Israel.

But this is the way the “Justice” system works in Israel today. Justice, for those who live in Samaria, Judea, and the former Gaza communities has become “Just us.” If you are a member of the communities that Sharon has slated for destruction, you are a criminal. It doesn’t matter what you have done or not done because they will find a way to make the arrest legitimate somehow. In the outside chance that they can’t find a reason to hold you after the trial is over, they will have, at least, disrupted your education, your income, or your personal life to such an extent that you will be permanently damaged in some way.

It is in this political climate that State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss will soon release her report on the Gaza withdrawal plan, focusing upon the civil rights abuses by the government in the apprehension, arrest, and detaining of many of the protestors for no other reason than their disapproval of the Sharon government. It is a report that is desperately needed, but will, I am sure, be quickly hidden and muffled in all but the alternative presses in Israel—especially during an election season.

But, report or not, the lack of justice in the Israeli “Justice” system is more than inconvenient—it is dangerous. Today it may be the “settlers” that Sharon’s government wants to silence. But who will it be tomorrow? When one man is in jail for an extended period of time without rights, it should give every citizen, visitor, and official of Israel pause. Imperfect justice is expected, but corrupt justice threatens every person in the land of Israel. Daniel Pinner is just one man, but he could be you, or me, or your best friend, or a member of your family. We cannot stand by and watch these injustices without action. In the words of Benjamin Franklin, "We must indeed all hang together, or most assuredly we will all hang separately."

Quick thoughts. I’ll get into it more at another time:

A. When someone repeatedly tries to help you out. But absolutely never comes thru for you. AHHH!!!!!! Running around screaming and pulling my hair out!
You can’t get upset with them because they went out of there way at tried.
And they have their own drama. I mean is it their fault they seem to attract that much drama??? OY, how do you say thank you to someone who didn’t get the job done?

B. I heard a great quote in a promo for a new ABC show called “Emily’s reasons why not “Instead of looking for a man to make me feel complete I should consider looking at myself as already whole.” I think. That line touched me.

C. what do you do with an abundance of secrets??

Sometime I think I should sit and write something.
Then I remember my boss can walk in any minute and get annoyed that I’m blogging. Not that he really cares, he just likes to pick fun at the whole idea. He’s a punk. What can you do?

So I was recently thinking about whole mess of things. And there all running circles around my head. So at a desperate attempt to save myself from insanity I want to get them out. Rambling through the key board seems to be the best way. This way I don’t have to sit down and speak in riddles and no one has to listen.
(Some people say I do that) I think it totally works for me. So screw it.

One thing bouncing around in my head:
the noise, that guys make. And now before you freak out and get all weird. That isn’t what it sounds like.. Understand this thought here. I’m noticing more and more lately that guys have a tendency to make funny noises when they have nothing to say. I.e. Buguly bugly boo & chabawallah… (said with an Israeli accent) now of all the insanity I can think of. I still don’t know why the hell they do that?

Is there a purpose? Does it mean something?
My synopsis:
No. that’s the answer. No, it means nothing. They seem to do it to fill the void of silence. Are they afraid to think? Oh no if it’s silent in the room sh*t, I may have to focus on what’s in my head. ::shaking my head..:: Nebach.

Guys. Get over it. Are you really that scared to process a thought?
Honestly. I don’t get it.

Outrage for Earl Krugel

does anyone remember Irv Rubin? A few years a go he was put in prison because the government was looking for jewish terrorsts even though there are none. (So they would look even among the muslim communities..) They set up Irv Rubin and said he was planning to bomb a mosque etc. then mysteriously he is killed in jail and it is called a suicide.

This morning i found this out. The Jewish Press has a little article about Earl Krugel who was arrested with Irv Rubin and was also just murdered in jail... as quoted from a friend.)"I am outraged and disgusted. It is no surprise that this doesnt even make the news. Hashem yikom domam Nekama al Aravim and whoever took part in this disgusting cover up murder"

To Be.. Or Not To Be..

So that’s my question.

These are some thoughts I was having. It’s nothing too interesting, so if you don’t normally read here. You might not want to start with this piece :)

I have issues. I'm a generally very friendly person. Okay so sometimes I come off as a bit intimidating and scary at first. But once you get to know me. I'm really a chilled out hippie at heart. (And starting to look like it on the outside.)
Anyway, not the point: I think my point is. I don’t know how to handle some people. Specifically the selfish kind who always focus on themselves. It doesn’t matter who they step on, on the way up as long as they have their own back covered… its all good.
I write them off automatically. It’s like first nature. I don’t know why I do it. Maybe it’s a recurring thing from my childhood and I’m sure a shrink would blame my father. But I'm not choosing to go down that route. I want to deal with it. I want to not roll my eyes when someone I don’t like is speaking especially when they talk sh*t. I want to be able to react like anyone else would in stead of cutting them down to size. It just irritates me. I feel like when you don’t like something about someone else it’s always a reflection of something you don’t like about yourself.
does this mean I'm a selfish person who talks a lot of smack who people find hard to communicate to and oy... what am i?

I always prided myself on trying to be a kind honest person who people can relate to and come to if they need something.. my door is always open and I always answer my phone if I'm needed. So why would I have such a hard time with this person??
